This section of the site is for Ford Escort lovers and gives a potted history of my rallying career over many years, although sadly I haven’t competed for a while now due to family comittments etc. If you want to read the whole story go here.

This was the first
car I ever rallied, basically a Ford Escort Mk1, with a nigh-on standard 2000cc pinto engine running on twin 40 Webers. Apart from safety equipment not much was done to the car. It was used first on road rallies as in the picture on the left and then on special stage rallies. Mainly 
single venue, but some multi-venue, and all tarmac based. Had a lot of fun with this car even though it wasn’t particularly competitive and we never won any awards with it. Eventually it came to grief down a dyke at Pembrey Motorsport Centre, taking a bend too fast. The damage to the shell was too extensive for sensible repair as it had been twisted, and that was that for a while.
A few years later..............
Another car is born, whilst out with some friends one night we decided to build another car to go rallycrossing. 
After acquiring a Mk1 Mexico shell and doing some of the work we changed our minds and went back to rallying. This shell took quite a bit of sorting out as it had originally been intended for a Rover V8 lump to be fitted and the front bulkhead had been cut out and this needed to be replaced. We fou
nd a scrap Mk1, cut the bulkhead out of it and with the help of a friend who had a portable welder, welded it into the recently acquired shell. Eventually all was done and the car, although never competitive, gave us a great deal of practice and we gained a lot of experience over the two years and numerous events we took part in until we wrote it off on an airfield near Swansea in Wales.
